As the nation sat down to watch Strictly Come Dancing, Adele was back on socials blessing us with an Instagram live stream for the first time as she prepares to release new music.
Adele, 33, gave out more goss about her upcoming album, which is thought to be titled 30, on Saturday evening, playing a snippet of lyrics from her new single to fans.
The clip played contained the lyrics: ‘There is no gold in this river that I’ve been washing my hands in forever.
‘I know there is hope in these waters, but I can’t bring myself to swim when I am drowning in the silence, baby let me…’
We know Adele’s album is set to be an emotional rollercoaster, with the singer having spoken about it being heavily inspired from her divorce from husband Simon Konecki, 47, as a way to help her son Angelo, nine, understand the situation.
But there were some hilarious moments in the live stream too, involving none other than superstar Alicia Keys who was able to provide some tech support.
Responding to Alicia asking: ‘Do you need help baby??’ Adele seemed frustrated as she couldn’t work out how to use the social media app.
She responded: ‘Well yes Alicia, I do need some help. I can’t figure out whose room… someone’s trying to take me into a room.’
Fans soon left a barrage of comments below to ask questions about the album, amongst other things they wanted to know about the London-born singer.
She provided some positive updates, telling fans how she was currently doing mentally.
Adele shared: ‘My mental health is very good at the moment. I take it day-by-day and I address whatever comes my way.’
‘It definitely helps me feel better if I take my time. Writing my music… yeah it’s been really therapeutic for sure.’
The singer shared earlier this week why she thought it was important to speak about her divorce for her son on the record.
She said to Vogue: ‘I wanted to explain to him through this record, when he’s in his twenties or thirties, who I am and why I voluntarily chose to dismantle his entire life in the pursuit of my own happiness.
‘It made him really unhappy sometimes. And that’s a real wound for me that I don’t know if I’ll ever be able to heal,’ she added.
Adele also explained why the first single on the album will be so significant.
‘It was the first song I wrote for the album and then I didn’t write anything else for six months after because I was like, “OK, well, I’ve said it all.”‘
