Tom Fletcher has shared an update on his training for Strictly Come Dancing 2021… and it seems like he has quite a bit of work to do before the big launch.

It was recently revealed – thanks to a slip-up by Dan Walker on BBC Breakfast – that Strictly will be commencing on Saturday September 18 this year, meaning that it’s just a couple of weeks away.

While some of the celebs may have started their gruelling training right away, even before finding out who their professional partners are going to be, Tom seems to be taking a more relaxed approach.

In a new post shared on Instagram, the McFly musician took a mirror selfie of himself sat in a chair, his feet resting on the table in front of him.

Shrugging in the picture, the 36-year-old wrote in the caption: ‘Day 2 on @bbcstrictly done. No dancing yet. This is easy…’ alongside a cheeky emoji of a face sticking its tongue out.

If Tom thinks his time on Strictly is going to be easy… just wait until the training really begins!

While fans can’t wait to see if Tom has the dancing chops to win the Glitterball Trophy, his wife Giovanna Fletcher has admitted that she’s not rushing to follow in his footsteps.

Giovanna, 36, who won I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out Of Here! in 2020, told Metro.co.uk that she believes that she has ‘two left feet’.

‘I dance like a four-year-old. I’m dancing up and down, I’m doing some silly moves, so I don’t know if there is a pro dancer who would have the patience for me,’ she said.

Tom isn’t the only member of McFly to have competed on Strictly, with his fellow band member Harry Judd winning the competition in 2011.

Harry told Metro.co.uk that Tom has ‘definitely got rhythm’, in addition to ‘obviously’ being ‘very musical’.

‘He’s got a bit of experience from when he was younger, but he hasn’t danced properly for probably 20 years,’ the drummer said.

‘But he’s definitely, definitely got rhythm. So that’s the first thing, I think. He’s got rhythm and he’s a musician, so there’s definitely, definitely potential.’

Harry added that Tom is ‘doing it for the for the right reasons, because he loves the show, and his kids love the show’.

‘He wants to really do them proud and he just genuinely wants to do it. Obviously he wants to do well, too,’ he said.

Strictly Come Dancing 2021 launches on Saturday September 18 on BBC One.
