Chelsea striker Tammy Abraham has agreed to join Roma with the Blues including a huge buy-back clause in the deal.
Abraham has struggled for game time at Stamford Bridge since Thomas Tuchel’s arrival at the club in January and was an unused substitute as Chelsea got their Premier League campaign off to a winning start on Saturday against Crystal Palace.
Roma general manager Tiago Pinto this week flew to London to hold face-to-face talks with the 23-year-old while Giallorossi manager Jose Mourinho has also been in frequent contact trying to convince him to join the club.
According to The Athletic, Abraham had told teammates he was holding out for a move to Arsenal.
However, there has been no bid from the Gunners.
The striker has therefore agreed to join Roma, according the report, and will fly to the Italian capital on Sunday to undergo a medical.
Roma will pay £34m for Abraham’s services, to be paid in instalments over the length of his contract with the club.
Chelsea have however inserted a buy-back option as part of the transfer.
The Blues will have the option to bring Abraham back to the club after two seasons for a huge £68m fee.
Abraham was left frustrated with the lack of playing time at Stamford Bridge last season and his opportunities would have been further limited by Romelu Lukaku’s return to west London.
