Simone Biles has pulled out of the women’s floor exercise final on Monday, meaning that she has just one more event remaining to win another medal at the Olympics.
On Tuesday, the 24-year-old withdrew from the women’s team final after making an error on the vault during her first event.
Biles, who went on to watch Team USA win silver, spoken openly about her need to focus on her mental health and has not competed since.
The four-time Olympic champion did not compete in the all-around final on Thursday, and also pulled out of the vault and uneven bars event on Sunday.
In a statement on Sunday, USA Gymnastics said ‘Simone has withdrawn from the event final for floor and will make a decision on beam later this week.
‘Either way, we’re all behind you, Simone.’
A decision is yet to be announced over Biles’ participation in the balance beam event on Tuesday.
Speaking after withdrawing from the team final on Tuesday, Biles also highlighted the injury risk she would face if she continued to compete at Tokyo 2020.
‘I have to focus on my mental health,’ she said.
‘I just think mental health is more prevalent in sports right now, we have to protect our minds and our bodies and not just go out and do what the world wants us to do.
‘I don’t trust myself as much any more, maybe it’s getting older.
‘There were a couple of days when everybody tweets you and you feel the weight of the world.
‘We’re not just athletes, we’re people at the end of the day and sometimes you just have to step back.
‘I didn’t want to go out and do something stupid and get hurt. I feel like a lot of athletes speaking up has really helped.
‘It’s so big, it’s the Olympic Games, at the end of the day we don’t want to be carried out of there on a stretcher.
‘You have to be there 100 per cent or 120 per cent or you’re going to hurt yourself.’
