Ever wanted to sleep in a cupboard that isn’t big enough to stand in?

Well, this London rental property could make that dream a reality – for £1,100 a month.

The Stockwell property, listed by Coopers of Stockwell, looks fairly normal in most respects, with high ceilings, a mixture of carpets and wood floors, and a reasonably-sized kitchen and bathroom.

There’s also a communal garden to enjoy, and the flat is just a five-minute walk away from Stockwell station.

However, one pretty unique feature is that the ‘bedroom’ is a cupboard that you need to access via a ladder in the living room.

Long enough to fit a bed but not tall enough to stand in, you’d need to climb through the cupboard door and crawl your way to bed each night.

The space has no natural light, relying instead on electric bulbs above the far end of the bed.

The sleeping area also features two small built-in shelves and has room for a short chest of drawers at the foot of the bed.

Naturally, you could always shift the bed into the living room if you did decide to move in, but you’d have to weigh that against the benefits of having separate living and sleeping spaces.

The Rightmove listing for the property reads: ‘This bright and airy studio flat offers a charming and affordable living space in an unbeatable location.

‘The versatile layout has plenty of in-built storage and there is a stunning shared garden.

‘Situated down the picturesque road of St Martins, the property is ideally located – only a five-minute walk to Stockwell station and nearby to all the amenities that Brixton’s vibrant High Street has to offer.’

People have branded the flat their ‘Rightmove highlight of the week.’

One commented: ‘Please don’t, I literally used to sleep in a kitchen on a fold-out bed for £700 per month.’

Another said: ‘I see they have spruced it up/got a photographer in. “Bright and airy”.’
