K-pop group Cravity have released their first full length album with a little bit of help from their labelmates Monsta X.
The nine member boy group are back with the album The Awakening: Written in the Stars, with the guys getting involved in writing the lyrics.
On Thursday they launched their comeback with title track Gas Pedal, co-written by Serim and Allen, and a typically slick video to match.
To promote their new music, they held a showcase in South Korea where they were quizzed about the comeback by Monsta X singer Minhyuk.
They also revealed how Minhyuk’s bandmates Joohoney and Kihyun helped them throughout the process.
Serim said, according to Soompi: ‘Before we started recording this album, Monsta X’s Joohoney spent some time with us going over the album’s vibe and key points. It made recording a lot easier.’
He added that Kihyun visited them on the Gas Pedal set.
Being able to show fans more of what they can do with a full length album has been a long held dream of member Wonjin, who said he was happy he could cross it off his bucket list.
He admitted working on Gas Pedal had a different feel to anything from their mini albums.
He shared: ‘Releasing a full-length album was one of the items on my bucket list as a singer and as an idol.
‘Even the title track of a full-length album felt somehow different, so we worked even harder than before.’
Cravity, made up of Wonjin, Serim, Allen, Jungmo, Woobin, Wonjin, Minhee, Hyeongjun, Taeyong and Seongmin, debuted in April last year.
In an interview with Metro.co.uk the boy group, which includes members of the now disbanded X1, looked back on their first year in the world of K-pop.
Taeyong confessed: ‘I’ve really learned a lot over the last year through many experiences. I think I’ve really grown up,’ he said.
‘Being an idol…maybe it was a little different than I thought. The biggest difference has been not being able to meet our fans because of the pandemic.
‘But I’m still happy to be a Cravity member, I wouldn’t change anything.’
Jungmo added they have tried to ‘understand each other a lot’ since debut, while Woobin credited leader Serim for guiding them through 2020.
The Awakening: Written in the Stars is out now.
