Coronation Street spoilers w/c Monday August 30
The night before the trial, Nina’s unnerved when a piece of music transports her back to the final day of Seb’s life. Fragments of her memory begin to resurface, and upon learning such a thing from Roy, Abi brings to the café the bag of items found on Seb’s body.
Nina’s struck by the sight of the plastic heart ring Seb gave to her, as she starts to remember.
She decides to retrace her and Seb’s steps and thus heads to the wasteland where she encountered Corey and Kelly on the day in question. Abi, Summer and Asha accompany her.
In a series of specially shot reconstruction scenes, the audience is taken back to the night of Seb’s attack, where the truth about what happened is at last revealed to viewers – and to a distraught Nina, as her memory returns.
Kelly and Corey, meanwhile, are worried ahead of their trial. Imran plays mind games with an overly-confident Sabeen. Both lawyers are adamant that their own client is telling the truth. The question is: which one actually is?
Nina bursts into tears, having remembered her final moments with Seb. She vows to go to the police to tell them what happened that night.
Corey, meanwhile, sits alone in his cell, and remembers the aftermath of the attack. He ducked into a ginnel to change into fresh clothes from his rucksack, stuffing his blood-stained tracksuit back inside and stashing it in a hiding place before returning for it later and tossing it into the river.
Imran and Kelly prepare to go to war against Corey and Sabeen.
Nina signs her new statement at the police station, hoping that it will bring justice for Seb. Sabeen, however, is worried when she learns about Nina’s new statement.
Corey and Kelly’s trial commences, and Roy encourages Nina to readopt her goth look, reiterating that no one deserves to be persecuted for the way they look.
As proceedings get underway, Seb’s final voicemail is played, and a regretful Kelly hangs her head in shame. Abi shoots her venomous looks.
Nina takes to the stand, telling the court how she remembers seeing vile Corey repeatedly kicking Seb, revealing that it was Kelly who begged him to stop. Sabeen then prepares to cross-examine her. The question is: will Nina’s story stand up?
Sabeen questions Nina about the reconstruction that she staged and does her best to discredit her friends. Nina begins to lose her temper and the court takes a break, leaving Imran worried.
Stefan is shaken by Nina’s account of what transpired on that night, shooting a look at Corey.
Asha then enters the witness box, telling the court how Corey bullied her and ultimately forced her to lie to the police. Sabeen, however, leaves her speechless, when she questions if she’s still in love with Nina! What will Asha say?
Imran questions Asha, suggesting that Seb was murdered simply because he got in the way, arguing that Corey was in fact targeting Nina out of jealousy, as Asha was in love with her and not him!
Asha’s heartbroken at the implication that Seb’s death was her fault and outside the courtroom, she sobs in Dev’s arms. And Dev is not pleased!
Kelly reveals her mum Laura has offered to give evidence, explaining she stopped her from going to the police straight away. Imran not so sure that this is the best idea, as he knows full well that Laura could be a liability.
Abi lashes out at Stefan, suggesting that it’s about time Corey started telling the truth.
Corey, meanwhile, takes the stand and lies through his teeth, claiming Kelly viciously attacked Seb – and it was he who tried to stop her! The killer paints himself as the victim, reminding the court that Kelly’s dad is a gangster, before claiming that she threatened to have him killed if he reported her to the police. Kelly is horrified at the lengths Corey has gone to in order to incriminate her.
Imran then cross-examines Corey, suggesting that it was he who killed Seb. But will Corey keep his cool? And will his friend Eli be rattled?
Back on the street, Curtis tells Emma that he’s got a hospital appointment to get his test results, and Emma wants to go with him. Things take a turn, however, when he suddenly collapses behind the bar at the Bistro, and an ambulance is called.
Fiz and Tyrone take a reluctant Hope to her first therapy session. Hope opens up, explaining to the psychologist how she started the fire because she felt sad when her Ty left home, as people are always leaving her. Fiz and Tyrone are heartbroken.
Over at the funeral parlour, George assures Todd that he’ll dispose of Phelan’s ashes in a respectful manner as soon as he can. Todd, however, is not convinced, and therefore he tries to steal the ashes! But George catches him red-handed.
Imran suggests to Eli that he’s lying about Kelly in order to get a reduced sentence himself. Corey is uneasy, and Abi clocks such a thing.
Tommy Orpington then takes the witness box and gives Corey a glowing character reference.
Abi launches a verbal attack on Stefan outside the court, accusing him of trying to buy Corey’s innocence with bribes. Stefan denies such a thing, but it’s clear he’s rattled. Determined Abi searches his social media accounts, but will she find any proof that could back up her claims?
At the hospital, the doctor informs Curtis they want to keep him in overnight and run some more tests. Curtis, however, reckons it’s a waste of time. Emma has a shock announcement for Curtis.
Alina reveals she’s booked a trip to Romania so Tyrone can meet her family! Ty’s heart sinks, as he knows he cannot leave Hope at such a crucial time.
George chases Todd in a bid to retrieve Phelan’s ashes. But tragedy strikes, as Todd trips up, sending the ashes flying everywhere! Eileen arrives to witness the mess, and Todd is forced to lie, claiming the ashes belonged to Patsy Freeman, a little old lady with no living relatives. Saddened by Patsy’s plight, Eileen tells George she’d like to give Patsy a send off. Todd masks his guilt!
