Every year, Brits get to enjoy a handful of well-earned breaks thanks to bank holidays.

Many choose to spend these extended weekends lounging on the beach, attempting amateur gardening, or doing odd jobs around the house.

And with lockdown restrictions easing across England the rest of the UK, staycations, day trips, and events both indoors and outdoors are on the cards, too.

With a heatwave gripping the country currently too, many will be wondering when the long weekend is arriving so they can enjoy/endure the summer heat.

So, when is the next bank holiday, and when do the rest fall throughout the year?

When is the next bank holiday in the UK?

The next bank holiday those in England and Wales get to enjoy is on Monday, August 30.

However, if you live in Scotland, you will be lucky enough to enjoy another bank holiday before then.

Those in Scotland have their Summer Bank Holiday on Monday, August 2, whilst in Northern Ireland they recently enjoyed a bank holiday on Monday, July 12.

How many bank holidays are there in a year?

It depends where in the United Kingdom you are, as bank holidays vary from one devolved nation to the next.

Across England and Wales, there will be a total of eight bank holidays in 2021, while those in Scotland will have a total of nine.
