Prediction
Losing overseas draft picks Kane Williamson, Shaheen Afridi and Adam Zampa certainly hurts their chances, but Liam Livingstone and Moeen Ali will win a few games on their own. Birmingham’s bowling – with Adam Milne, Pat Brown, Chris Woakes and Imran Tahir all signed up – also looks strong.
The women’s team should make some big scores – Verma, Amy Jones and Erin Burns are all top batters – and the squad has an abundance of experience. But the withdrawal of Ellyse Perry, one of the greatest-ever female cricketers, on the eve of the tournament is a major blow.
Birmingham Phoenix Men: 7th
Birmingham Phoenix Women: 5th
