Sassuolo CEO Giovanni Carnevali says the Italian outfit are in ‘advanced’ negotiations with an unnamed club over the sale of Manuel Locatelli amid interest from Arsenal and Juventus.

Speculation has been rife that the Gunners are interested in bringing the Italian international midfielder to the Emirates this summer, with Mikel Arteta looking to reshape his squad.

Granit Xhaka looks destined to join Jose Mourinho at Roma this summer, which would leave the Gunners with a space to fill in the middle of the park.

Carnevali claimed last week that Arsenal had made an ‘important’ bid for Locatelli, meanwhile, reports have since suggested that he favours a move to Juventus over the north London club.

But the CEO has now insisted that more talks with Juve are due to take place next week, while the offers have come from abroad – with one of those proceeding rapidly.

‘We met with Juve and made an appointment next week, but everything is still to be evaluated,’ said Carnevali.

‘The Italian market is struggling at the moment, the offers have come from abroad, and clearly we have players who are wanted by the big clubs.’

‘We are enjoying the moment and will talk to Locatelli after the Euros have concluded, as we want to leave him relaxed and focused until Sunday.

‘We received some very important offers for Locatelli, among them one that is at an advanced stage.’

Locatelli has impressed for Italy at Euro 2020, scoring twice in four games for Roberto Mancini’s side.

The 23-year-old will be hoping to get on the pitch when Italy take on England in Sunday’s final at Wembley.
