Jose Mourinho has warned England to expect a ‘difficult’ Euro 2020 tie against Denmark after Gareth Southgate’s side thrashed Ukraine to book their place in the semi-finals.
The Three Lions produced a superb display in Rome on Saturday night to dump out Ukraine and progress to their first Euros semi-final since 1996.
Harry Kane gave England an early lead after being played through by Raheem Sterling, and Harry Maguire’s header immediately after half-time saw Southgate’s team take control.
Kane added a third for the Three Lions soon after and Liverpool captain Jordan Henderson rounded off a superb evening with England’s third header.
Mourinho was impressed by England’s win and said Southgate’s side ‘made it look easy’, but has warned that their semi-final opponents Denmark will represent a tougher challenge.
Before England’s match, the Danes’ continued their impressive and emotional Euros campaign with a 2-1 victory over the Czech Republic in Baku.
New Roma boss Mourinho told talkSPORT: ‘Denmark are solid. They also found a way to play different than the way they started.
‘They started of course with Christian Eriksen as a no.10 and with a back four. They are now playing with three at the back, a solid team, good players playing in the best leagues with lots of experience.
‘They are very positive in spite of what happened to Christian and it looks that they are emotionally strong.
‘I think it is of course going to be a difficult match for England despite England playing well and being at home.’
The former Tottenham, Manchester United, Chelsea and Real Madrid manager added: ‘Of course it was a good performance, they made it look easy.
‘As I was expecting when we spoke last time, it should have been an easy game for England. It was always under control.
‘No problems at all, no injuries, no suspensions and a semi-final that of course is going to be more difficult because Denmark is a much better team than Ukraine.’
