Ashton Kutcher has revealed he was due to be on the next flight to space with Virgin Galactic, but wife Mila Kunis made him return his ticket.

The actor, 43, revealed that Mila, 37, didn’t think it was a great idea for him to take the risky trip when the pair have young kids.

He explained to Cheddar News: ‘When I got married and had kids my wife basically encouraged that it was not a smart family decision to be heading into space when we have young children.

‘So I ended up selling my ticket back to Virgin Galactic and I was supposed to be on the next flight but I will not be on the next flight. But at some point I’m going to space!’

The couple share six-year-old Wyatt and Dimitri, four, and while Ashton has put off the space flight for now, he is adamant he will do it one day.

His admission comes days after Virgin founder Sir Richard Branson, 70, boarded the company’s first flight to the edge of space.

Sir Richard and five crew members travelled on the VSS Unity and their trip 280,000 feet above ground lasted an hour before arriving safely back to Earth.

The space tourism company’s Unity 22 flight was the 22nd test flight of the reusable SpaceShipTwo VSS Unity that will eventually carry paying customers to allow them to experience weightlessness.

Sir Richard said of the experience: ‘I have dreamt of this moment since I was a kid, but honestly nothing can prepare you for the view of Earth from space. The whole thing was just magical.’

While Ashton might be putting off his own space flight for a little while, it seems he and Mila are having a great time at home with the kids.

She told Entertainment Tonight in January that the family embraced lockdown together: ‘Our whole family is already co-dependent, so this pandemic just feeds into our entire co-dependency.

‘And my husband and I were super co-dependent for like eight years and in this pandemic our kids are like: “Where are you going?” And I was like: “The bathroom.” We haven’t left each other. We’re in the house.’
