What is the Wimbledon prize money and how much do the winners get?

Wimbledon has returned for 2021, but the prize money has seen a reduction.

The tennis tournament has become a rewarding event for the top performers and it is an event that attracts viewers from around the world.

This year, the competition joins the Euros and the Olympics in a summer of sport, and fans will get to see Andy Murray return after a long injury spell.

Here is everything that you need to know about this year’s prize money and what the winners will get.

What is the Wimbledon prize money?

This year’s tournament will handout a total of £35 million in prize money, which is a reduction of around 7.85% on 2019.

Both the men’s and women’s players will be awarded equal prize money, with the singles competition receiving the biggest rewards.

There will be a total of £28,490,000 being awarded to players across the two tournaments, while the prizes for the two doubles fixtures will total £4,584,000.

Mixed doubles have a combined total of £430,000, while Wheelchair singles have a total of £278,000 and the Wheelchair doubles have £37,000.

There is also smaller prize money for the qualifying stages of the tournament, as well as the invitation doubles.

How much do the Wimbledon winners get?

The winners of the men’s and women’s singles tournaments will receive a £1,700,000 cash prize, along with the money they make throughout the rest of the tournament.

While the number sounds huge, it’s a 27.66% reduction on the 2019 prize.

A cash prize of £480,000 per pair will be given to the winners of the men’s and women’s doubles tournaments, while the mixed doubles winners will receive £10,000 per pair.

The Wheelchair Singles winners will get £48,000 and the Wheelchair Doubles will get £20,000 per pair.
