Simon Cowell has said he could potentially convince One Direction to reunite, and we’re going to need him to get on that pronto.
The band, made up of Harry Styles, Zayn Malik, Niall Horan, Louis Tomlinson, and Liam Payne, parted ways in 2015 and, while they’ve smashed it with solo careers, fans have been waiting on a reunion ever since.
The boys have addressed it various times but now Simon, who formed the band on The X Factor in 2010, has had his say.
‘I think it will happen,’ he told The Mirror. ‘If they got together, whether it’s making records again or touring, it would be the most amazing thing.’
The music mogul added: ‘If I could get into a room with them and just say, “You know what, whether it’s six months or something, I think you’d have such a great time” – maybe I could persuade them.
‘But I think they should do it, definitely. I would love it to happen. And the fans, of course, would love it.’
They definitely would.
However, earlier this year, Niall dashed everyone’s hopes by admitting that none of the boys actually talk about a reunion.
When asked about a potential reunion on the Jonathan Ross Show, Niall, 27, replied: ‘I don’t know…. no one really talks about it. I still talk to them all the time.
‘There’s a couple of little babies from them lads. Everyone’s having their own success on their own. I’m enjoying what I’m doing.’
However, Niall isn’t opposed to the idea of reuniting with his former bandmates, but doesn’t know when that will happen.
The singer has also suggested that he would only do it if the rest of the boys were all involved.
He continued: ‘Of course, if everyone wanted to do it, I’d be down for it… you kind of need to all get in the same room and have the chat, but I don’t know when that would be…
‘Having the same opinion is going to be always hard. Unless everyone was completely in, I wouldn’t want to do it. I wouldn’t want to half force someone into doing it.’
It doesn’t sound all that hopeful, but we’re definitely keeping the dream alive.
