Jesse Lingard has told Ole Gunnar Solskjaer he wants to stay at Manchester United in a candid meeting about his future.
Lingard, who has been at Old Trafford since the age of eight, joined Premier League rivals West Ham on loan in January after slipping down Solskjaer’s pecking order.
The 28-year-old enjoyed a brilliant spell in east London, scoring nine goals and making four assists in 16 games to almost force his way into England’s Euro 2020 squad.
While Gareth Southgate ultimately overlooked Lingard, his form has impressed Solskjaer and forced the Red Devils boss to reconsider whether the player has a future at Old Trafford.
According to The Sun, Lingard recently held a candid meeting with Solskjaer and told him he would ideally stay at Manchester United, where he has won the FA Cup, EFL Cup and Europa League.
Hammers boss David Moyes is keen to sign Lingard on a permanent transfer and, while Lingard has not ruled that out, he would prefer to remain at the Theatre of Dreams.
