Line of Duty bosses aren’t letting us breathe for even one second if new pictures from episode five are anything to go by.
After a tense cliffhanger over who scheming police officer Joanne Davidson (Kelly Macdonald) is related to, the gang got right back to the action.
In new photos, Jo looked seriously tense as she was joined by Steve Arnott (Martin Compston) and Chris (Perry Fitzpatrick) at what appeared to be a crime scene.
In fact the officer looked positively shaken as she looked on, as Steve radioed in about a situation.
We have so many questions – what has happened now? Why does Jo look so worried? Who is Steve calling into? How much more can we take?
Will we ever get our answers?
Creator Jed Mercurio threw some almighty curveballs at viewers on Sunday’s instalment, when AC-12 dissected the DNA found at the flat of Farida Jatri (Anneika Rose).
The ‘significant’ forensic findings alluded to a shocking piece of the puzzle, surrounding Jo and her family.
’As we know sir, officers’ samples are stored on the system to exclude contamination of crime scenes,’ Steve told Ted Hastings as he gave a rundown of their findings.
‘Now an officer’s DNA isn’t speculatively examined on a routine basis, it certainly wasn’t back when Davidson joined the force. Because the DNA deposit detected at the house were assumed to relate solely to a police officer, they were compared against the whole system.
‘The analysis detected partial matches to a nominal whose DNA is stored on other police databases. It’s identified over the page.’
As Ted looked over the file, which was obscured from the cameras, Steve continued: ‘As we know sir, there’s only one credible explanation for Jo Davidson’s DNA matching this individual – they’re blood relatives.’
To which the stunned gaffer replied: ’Mother of God,’
With fans baffled over who Jo could be related to, the possible ending of AC-12 as a whole – if Ted’s bosses have their way – and a new possible crime scene to piece together, it’s safe to say we’ll all be gripped by the next episode.
Line of Duty continues on Sunday, at 9pm, on BBC.
