Nothing makes a child happier than their favourite toy, film or new-found obsession.
Parents will do almost anything to keep that joy – and now one mum has gone the extra mile to do just that.
Gemma Simmons, 33, surprised her ‘dinosaur obsessed’ two-year-old with an incredible Jurassic Park bedroom makeover.
The mum-of-one, who lives in Ridgewell, Essex, spent a month turning her son Grayson’s previously grey room into a dinosaur dreamland.
‘Grayson has been obsessed with dinosaurs for months and months and I don’t do things by halves, so I decided to go all-out with it,’ Gemma explained.
‘I took inspiration from lots of different places, so I combined all the different ideas I saw to make something unique.’
Gemma said the DIY project cost £700 after buying most of her supplies from Amazon, Ebay, Ikea, Etsy and The Range.
To give the bedroom the ultimate outdoor Jurassic Park feel, the property sales progressor painted clouds on the ceiling and included wall art depicting a dinosaur safari scene.
She then added ferns and a blanket box that transformed into a dinosaur transport pod.
Alongside these elements, she included indoor tiki torches, a teepee tent and mounted dinosaur heads on the wall.
Gemma kept the transformation a secret from Grayson but surprised the two-year-old last week and filmed his excited reaction.
‘I didn’t have a clear plan when I started – I shopped around online and picked out things that Grayson would like,’ Gemma said of the project.
‘This is his first proper big boy bedroom, so I wanted him to have a bedroom he loves.
‘After seeing his reaction, I’d say I achieved it!’
