Game Of Thrones fans are keeping their fingers crossed that David Benioff and D. B. Weiss are working on remaking season 8 after a mysterious message on the show’s official Twitter page.

After a brand new trailer for the chapter was released earlier this week, a tweet that referenced the most iconic lines from the franchise, the House of Stark’s legendary motto, was posted.

‘Winter is coming,’ it read.

The HBO fantasy is two days shy of celebrating its 10-year anniversary and fans are hoping the post signals that the controversial final series will be remade to mark the milestone.

‘God I hope that Game Of Thrones post means they’re remaking the last season,’ wrote one. ‘It was so bad that the show went from a pop culture phenomenon to nobody talks about it anymore. People still talk about Breaking Bad and that’s a show that sticked the landing.’

Echoing a similar sentiment, another penned: ‘I hope this means they’ll remake the last season. You could change it to be a Vision Bran or the Night King had and somehow the history changes.’

However, not everyone was confident that the cryptic tweet was hinting at a remake.

‘Guys, a lot of you need to hear this, @GameOfThrones is not remaking season 8. You will just have to be salty about it for the rest of your lives,’ one blasted.

‘I’m seeing the rumors that the tweet from the Game of Thrones account is hinting that they might remake the final season of Game of Thrones,’ another added.

‘I’m just going to call it now that there is no f*cking way that happens. Season 8 is always going to be what it is.’

The Game Of Thrones season eight finale aired in May 2019 and sparked uproar, with 2million people signing a petition calling for it to be remade with ‘competent writers’.

HBO president Casey Bloys shared his verdict as backlash against the fantasy epic continued to rage on.

‘There are very, very few downsides to having a hugely popular show,’ he said at the Television Critics Association summer press tour in 2019.

‘But one I can think of is when you try to end it, many people have big opinions on how these characters’ stories should come to an end.’

While it looks like a remake isn’t on the cards, fans can get excited for the highly-anticipated prequel House Of The Dragon, which is expected to arrive next year.

Game Of Thrones is available to stream on HBO and NOW.
