Ticking off a healthy, filling breakfast each morning can be a load of faff.

The last thing you want to do when you’re bleary-eyed and trying to get out the house in time is to fiddle around with poaching or scrambling.

Any trick that makes a speedy breakfast easier, we’re all for.

So this egg cooking hack is well worth a try.

The team at Gut Started shared the tip, explaining that using the technique at the start of the week could save you some time in the mornings before work.

All you need is a muffin baking tray, eggs, oil, a piece of kitchen roll, a butter knife, and salt and pepper for seasoning.

‘Cooking eggs for the fam? Prepping for a few days? Check out this cooking hack that will save you so much time and energy,’ said Gut Started.

Easy cooking hack for batches of eggs

The method is simple. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees celsius, then use your kitchen roll to grease your muffin tin with butter or oil.

Crack an egg into each muffin tray slot, season with salt and pepper, then cook in the oven for 10 to 12 minutes.

Once the eggs are cooked and set, remove the muffin tin from the oven, run a butter knife around the edges, and remove them from the tray to serve.

You could then use these as the base for a little on-the-go protein pot (add some baked beans, or spinach and smoked salmon), in a full cooked breakfast, or with some avocado toast.

But the key is to cook your eggs for the week all in one go, so it’s just 10 minutes of effort once (and as you’re using the oven, you can use that time to keep getting ready for the day) and then for the next few days you can just pop out the eggs whenever you wish.

Store the cooked eggs in an airtight container in the fridge and they should stay fresh and tasty for four days.

The trick has been a massive hit online, and we can see why.

Some recommended adding chopped veg or bacon bits to the eggs before cooking, while others rejoiced at having a way to cook enough eggs for the family without the effort of poaching.
