Fresh herbs can add lots of flavour to a dish but prepping them can be time-consuming.
Separating the leaves from the stems is not usually a quick task.
But one mum has posted a video of a life hack she learnt to make the process simple.
Using a box grater, Moriel Beth Obertann pulls a stem of coriander through one of the wider holes, pulling the leaves away.
She can then discard the stem and use the leaves in her dish.
It works best for herbs with bigger leaves like parsley and coriander (also known as cilantro in the U.S.).
Although the hack has been around for a while, it seems lots of people hadn’t heard about it as over 1.1 million have watched the video and many in the comments were shocked by how much easier it is to follow this method.
One said: ‘OMG. Genius. What in the hell have I been doing!!! Cilantro is going to lose this battle!!!.’
Another added: ‘When I say I just screamed at my screen, I SCREAMED. WHAT.’
‘OMG I always wondered how people chop so much cilantro,’ someone else said.
While some people argued that the stems brought more flavour, others disageed.
‘AMAZING. I don’t really like the stems so I usually pick the leaves off. It’s a texture thing for me,’ one person wrote.
Moriel Beth agreed and wrote: ‘Yeah we don’t really like them either.’
And others pointed out some recipes call for you to separate the herbs and use both sections at different times so this hack speeds that up.
