A man and a woman have died following a suspected arson attack that left another four people in hospital.

Reece Schofield and Samantha Mills died several days after the fire at a house in Clare Hill, Huddersfield.

Craig Collier, 34, has been charged with arson with intent to endanger life and has been remanded in custody.

Police confirmed Mr Schofield, 24, from Dewsbury, West Yorkshire, was pronounced dead on Monday.

Ms Mills, 31, from the Huddersfield area, died in hospital on Friday.

The pair were among six people taken to hospital following the blaze, which is believed to have started at around 6am last Tuesday.

One person remains in hospital but their condition is described as stable.

Collier, of Clare Hill, was charged with arson with intent to endanger life and perverting the course of justice.

Police said he has since appeared before magistrates and was remanded in custody ahead of a further hearing at Leeds Crown Court.

Detectives are continuing to appeal to anyone who was in the Clare Hill area at around 6am on March 23 to contact them.
