If you’re in the mood to marvel at the madness of London’s rental market, usually we’d recommend you have a scroll through What I Rent and make the usual comments of ‘that’d get me a six-bedroom mansion up north’.
But today we bring you one flat that, shockingly, remains available to rent.
Yep, no one has snapped up this studio property yet. It’s yours for the taking if you want it… and have £370 a week to spare.
The flat in question is a tiny studio ‘in the heart of Notting Hill’.
It was originally brought to our attention by Joel Golby’s Rental Opportunity Of The Week column, which is usually a fairly depressing look at the nation’s housing situation, but this particular property is pretty special.
For £370 a week, or £1,603 a month, you could live in a flat that’s generously described as ‘spacious’ in the Gumtree listing, despite it all being one small room.
There’s a double bed that folds out from the wall, necessitating putting it away every morning so you can actually use the rest of the room, and a red sofa that acts as the living space… but we assume you’d need to move that out of the way every bedtime, or just carefully place the bed on top of said sofa.
For your eating and work space, there’s a small circular table that folds away against the window, and a TV is positioned in a little alcove opposite the bed, above a chest of drawers.
Looking at the pictures, you might be wondering how on earth you’re supposed to make your dinner.
But have no fear, a kitchen is indeed here… inside a cupboard.
Simply open up your storage and you’ll find the sink, a fridge, some shelves, and a microwave.
There does not appear to be an oven, but you do get two hob rings and a fire extinguisher.
Plus, there’s a shower room. We imagine there’s a toilet and sink in there too, but the listing doesn’t show any visual evidence of this.
The listing reads: ‘This beautiful, studio flat set within the heart of Notting Hill is available immediately and is set within a beautiful and serene street and surrounded by trendy bars, cafes restaurants and just a stone’s throw from Hyde Park.
‘With Notting Hill Gate station practically on your doorstep, This property offers unparalleled connections via the Central line.
‘This fully furnished, self contained studio features a lift up bed, large window and an efficient kitchenette.’
Far be it from us to question the descriptor of ‘beautiful’, or to ask whether the kitchen is truly ‘efficient’.
But on the plus side, bills are included in the rent, and the flat would give you easy access to all the fun bits of west London.
If this all sounds appealing, you can get in touch with the landlord through Gumtree and set up a viewing.
Best of luck turning if you plan to work from home.
