Normal People actress Daisy Edgar-Jones is reported to have split from her boyfriend Tom Varey after dating for more than a year.
The couple’s relationship was first made public last May after sources revealed the actors were self-isolating together.
However, insiders now claim the romance is over with Daisy and Game of Thrones actor Tom keen to focus on their blossoming careers.
‘They got on really well during lockdown last year, but they’re both young and passionate about following their careers,’ a source told The Sun.
‘Daisy has been inundated with opportunities and feels she has to put them first, Tom’s also really dedicated to his acting and wants the best for both of them.’
It’s said to be an amicable break-up as they added: ‘They were sad they couldn’t make it work, but are still close and there’s no hard feelings.’
Daisy, who plays Marianne in the hit BBC Three drama, first met Tom – who played Cley Cerwyn in Game of Thrones – on-set of the 2018 film Pond Life.
Their romance was mostly kept out of the spotlight but Daisy, 22, did reveal that Tom, 29, struggled to watch her sex scenes with Tom Mescal in Normal People.
She told the How to Fail with Elizabeth Day podcast (via Cosmo) in May: ‘My boyfriend actually, he was amazing because what a tricky thing to watch.
‘He loves the series, thank goodness. That’s something I’m very relieved about. But, there was a moment in episode six where he was like: “This is a bit weird. Oh this is weird!”‘
She added: ‘And we all have to acknowledge that it was a bit weird, and then it was fine.’
Daisy’s career has taken off since Normal People and she just scored a Golden Globe nomination for her performance. Tom is also booked and busy and is currently filming new TV series Ridley Road.
