Chunkz has opened up about the strange and sweet rituals he does when he is alone as part of a new mental health campaign encouraging young people to speak about their feelings.

He reveals he has borrowed his sister’s eyelash curler in the past and got pretty good at using it.

‘I like to go to my sister’s room and use the little eyelash curler thing. Oh my god,’ he says in the campaign film.

‘I used to make myself look fleeky, bro. Twisting them. Yeah I looked good.’

He also says that he likes to act out iconic scenes from films such as Titanic.

Producer Jax Jones shares that he likes to ‘meditate on the loo’ and also confesses to ‘cutting my toenails and smelling the cheeses’.

Chicken Shop Date presenter and YouTube star Amelia Dimoldenberg, singer Joy Crookes and Celebrity Masterchef star and broadcaster Riyadh Khalaf also appear, with Riyadh revealing he likes to talk to his cat Claire and pretend he is ‘the entire ensemble of a full West End cast’ when he’s on his own.

The message of the Don’t Do It Alone campaign is that while there are some things you should probably do alone, dealing with your mental health shouldn’t be one of them.

Chunkz encourages young people to speak out if they are ‘feeling sad, anxious or finding life hard’.

Of his role in the campaign for Kooth, the UK’s leading digital mental health platform, he added: ‘It means a lot for me to be part of the campaign, a lot of my family and friends suffer with mental health issues so I know the importance of talking about your problems and not bottle up how you’re feeling, because it won’t get solved if you keep it to yourself.

‘If I can help anyone out there suffering that’s all that matters to me, and because it means so much to me, and I’d love to help anyone out there needing it – I hope that my being part of this campaign does help at least one person to realise they’re not in it alone.’

The launch of Don’t Do It Alone, which coincides with Children’s Mental Health Awareness week, supports Kooth’s research into how the Covid-19 pandemic is affecting the mental health of Gen Z.
