Santa Claus gets more than he bargained for in the latest SNL parody – with Eminem making a surprise cameo in a send-up of his classic track, Stan.
The song, detailing the out of control obsession of a fan, sees Pete Davidson become Stu – a man resorting to desperate measures in order to get a PS5 for Christmas.
As Santa’s elves read out letters to Father Christmas himself (played by Jason Bateman), things take a dark turn when they come across Stu’s letter.
‘I won’t be needy or greedy or ask you for too much, I just want one thing, I hope you still got that magic touch,’ Stu raps in a room completely covered in Santa Claus photos.
‘Getting this present is the only thing keeping me alive. Dear Santa Claus, please bring me a PS5.’
Arguing that the magic gift-sender can make one in his gift shop, seeing as they’re sold out literally everywhere, Stu then continues to bombard Santa with letters to make sure he gets them.
Kate McKinnon then steps in for Dido’s chorus, playing the worried mother whose adult child is back living with her, and unaware that she’s already bought him one.
In a shot-for-shot remake of the real Stan music video, Stu’s obsession gets more out of control and results in him recording a note for Santa on a tape recorder as he drives after drinking a fifth of egg nog.
Santa and his elves then finally respond… lying and pretending he’s got the wrong address.
As the sketch comes to an end, a TV screen lights up to reveal a home movie – of the real Eminem, opening up a PS5 for Christmas in front of his tree.
Donning a Christmas jumper, a shocked Eminem declares: ‘A PS5?! I didn’t even ask for this!
‘I guess Shady must’ve been a good boy this year. Sorry, Stu – you f***ed up.’
This week’s episode of SNL saw Ozark star Jason Bateman take on hosting duties, with musical guest Morgan Wallen.
The record-breaking satire is now in its 46th season, and next week will have Timothee Chalamet take over the presenting spot, with music from Bruce Springsteen.
Saturday Night Live airs weekly on NBC in the US.
