It’s not a merry Christmas for local Scrooge Ian Beale (Adam Woodyatt), who is living in terror following the attack which almost killed him.
With his enemies, yes plural, still out there, the police up their investigation – with suspects such as Ben Mitchell (Max Bowden), Tina Carter (Luisa Bradshaw-White) and Max Branning (Jake Wood) all deeply unsettled and in focus.
However, Ian is still very much in danger as the attacker is still on the loose and determined to finish the job.
After a very pointed threat involving a bullet, the vengeful Walford local leaves Ian terrified and shaken again when a bang rings out – but is it a gunshot?
Kathy (Gillian Taylforth) is determined to reunite the family for Christmas but another incident in the home leaves Ian aware that he is not safe anywhere.
While he tries to make amends with some of his enemies, it becomes too late as the damage is done and, come Christmas Day, the attacker will reveal themselves – leading to another potentially deadly showdown with Ian.
A spokesperson for EastEnders whispered: ‘It’s the night before Christmas and all through the Square, people are gathering for a special festive celebration, there are memories to share.
‘But as the night ends, Walford is left in shock. A chilling taunt on Ian Beale leaves him scurrying for safety, terrified for his life once again.
‘Then Christmas Day comes – one Albert Square resident only wants one thing for Christmas, the end of Ian Beale. But who wants him gone? The truth will come to light…’
Look out Ian – there’s another nasty Christmas surprise coming your way!
