England is back in lockdown for at least another month, with non-essential shops ordered to close until December 2.

Under the new rules, businesses including hairdressers, gyms, tattoo parlours and beauty salons will close for four weeks, while pubs and restaurants will have to switch to takeaway and delivery only.

A number of essential shops, including supermarkets and pharmacies, will be allowed to remain open – but will Argos, B&Q and Homebase be staying open this time around?

Unfortunately Argos will reportedly be closing in England for the duration of the lockdown – having closed their branches in Wales during the firebreak lockdown there.

However, customers will still be able to order items through their click and collect service.

B&Q has confirmed they will be remaining open during lockdown.

As a hardware store, B&Q falls into the category of ‘essential retail’ and is therefore allowed to stay open during the four-week period.

B&Q has confirmed this on their website, saying: ‘We want to reassure you that as an essential retailer, our stores remain open and customer and colleague safety is our priority.

Customers can place orders for click and collect and delivery as well – and while kitchen, bedroom and bathroom consulations will still be available in store, they will also continue to offer virtual contactless consultations too.

Will Homebase be open during lockdown?

Homebase has also confirmed it will be remaining open during the lockdown period.

‘As an essential retailer, all our stores are open across the UK and Ireland and continue to adhere to all safety precautions to ensure everyone shopping and working for us is as safe as possible,’ they have said on their website.

Click and collect services will also be available in store, while they will still be operating deliveries as normal.
