Titanic star Elsa Raven dies aged 91

Actress Elsa Raven has sadly died at the age of 91, it has been confirmed.

The Hollywood star, best known for roles in Titanic and Back To The Future, died at her home in Los Angeles on Tuesday.

Her agent, David Shaul, confirmed the news to Deadline but said there are currently no plans for her memorial.

Raven, real name Elsa Rabinowitz, was born in Charleston, South Carolina in 1929.

She began her acting career in New York City and helped bring the Free Shakespeare Festival to Central Park.

From there, Raven went on to earn memorable roles in some of the biggest blockbusters.

Back To The Future fans will remember Raven as the Clocktower Lady in the 1985 sci-fi adventure.

Raven also starred as the real estate agent who sold the house in classic horror The Amityville Horror, as John Malkovich’s landlady in In The Line of Fire.

The actress will also be remembered for her role as Ida Strauss in Titanic although many of her scenes were cut.

However she appeared in one of the movie’s most heartbreaking scenes, as was one-half of the elderly couple embracing in bed as water filled their room while Celine Dion’s hit My Heart Will Go On soundtracked the scene.

Raven landed a number of TV gigs with roles in shows like Amen, where she made regular appearances as Inga the Swedish maid, as Lucille in Days of Our Lives and Tugboat Tesse in General Hospital.

The actress was a longtime voting member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and spent hours watching the shortlisted movies every year.

Raven is survived by 15 nieces and nephews.
