A fisherman who earns £500 a month has discovered what is believed to be the world’s biggest blob of whale vomit - worth £2.4m. The mammalian spew - known as ambergris - is expensive because of an odourless alcohol that is extracted to make a perfume’s scent last longer. Naris Suwannasang, 60, said: “I plan to go to the police and have them record my discovery as I fear [it] might be stolen from my house.”
Second monolith appears in Romania
A metal monolith has mysteriously appeared in Romania after a similar structure disappeared from a desert in Utah. The 4m (13ft) monolith was discovered on Batca Doamnei Hill in the city of Piatra Neamt. It resembles the Utah monolith that was spotted in a remote cove last month. It has been speculated that the monoliths could have been the work of aliens - or a prankster inspired by science fiction novel 2001: A Space Odyssey.
World record pizza has 254 varieties of cheese
A French chef landed a Guinness World Record by preparing a pizza with 254 varieties of cheese. Benoit Bruel created the record-breaker in the city of Lyon, and told Guinness officials he felt it was important that the cheese-based record be held by France.
