Phillip Schofield has revealed how his family dynamic has changed since he came out as gay earlier this year and admits it’s all a ‘work in progress’.

The This Morning presenter opened up about his sexuality during an emotional interview with his co-host Holly Willoughby in February.

Following his coming out, Phil has been supported by his wife of 27 years Stephanie Lowe, as well as daughters Molly, 27, and Ruby, 24.

During an interview with BBC Radio 5 Live this weekend, Phil stated: ‘We love each other massively.

‘We are a loving family, that hasn’t changed… it’s us four but different.’

He went on to explain: ‘We are a work in progress. I’ve been very honest about all of this and there’s no question, we have to pick our way through this daily as a family.

‘And that’s what we are doing. We are making our way through very unusual and unexpected waters.’

The 58-year-old presenter, who has just released his autobiography, recently shared his hopes that his late father would be proud of him for coming out

Phillip admitted that he’s often played out the scenario in his head where his dad, who died in 2008, finds out he is gay.

Speaking to Chris Evans on his How To Wow podcast, Phillip said: ‘That’s like a grenade going off in my head. When I went down to Cornwall when I told my mum, I said, “What do you think dad would have said? Would he still be proud?”

‘Thankfully she said, “Yes… he’ll think you’re brave and he will always be proud of you”. So that is good… My dad was one of the kindest, sweetest, most lovely people ever.’

It was previously reported that Phillip has moved out of the family home he shared with Steph and the children after buying a new property in west London.

After coming out, Phillip said that he had no interest in dating anyone at the moment and was coming to terms with his new normal.
