Former Manchester United and Liverpool midfielder Paul Ince believes Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will look to leave Arsenal at the end of the season.
The Gabon forward finally ended speculation over his future in September by penning a new three-year deal at the Emirates, worth a reported £300,000-a-week.
Aubameyang was instrumental in the Gunners’ FA Cup run last term and the early form under Mikel Arteta convinced the 31-year-old to stay, despite interest from Barcelona.
However, Arsenal’s form has collapsed since Aubameyang’s penned his new deal and the Gunners’ lacklustre start to the season was summed up with their 2-1 defeat to Wolves on Sunday.
The striker wasted one good opportunity to score but otherwise it was another out-of-sorts display from Aubameyang and Ince believes the signs are there that the striker is already thinking about leaving.
‘Aubameyang for me is a worry,’ Ince told DAZN.
‘He looks frustrated. He looks like he’s not getting enough service. If he doesn’t get service – even though he signed a three-year contract- I can’t see him being there next year. I really, really can’t.
‘I don’t care [if he’s signed a new deal]. It looks like he’s got that sort of body language that he’s just not happy. It doesn’t look right.’
Ince was providing punditry on the game alongside Arsenal legend Ian Wright, who pleaded with Aubameyang for months to sign a new deal.
Wright believes Aubameyang’s problem could be that the club haven’t yet made good on their promise to invest in the side around him.
‘We’ve got a striker that is you have to say in the latter stages of his career, he’s in his best years and he’s signed them to Arsenal,’ said Wright.
‘Probably on the proviso that there will be players that come in to help him to take Arsenal to where they need to be to but that’s not happening at the moment.
‘I’m sure that’s what Mikel wants to do but at the moment he can’t do it. He hasn’t got that money to spend to bring that player in to help as well and he’s trying to coach a team to help them play in a certain way to get results. Patience is needed for me.’
