Max George has offered an apology and explanation for his accidental F-bomb during last night’s Strictly Come Dancing.
The Wanted star had just finished performing an American Smooth with his dance partner Dianne Buswell when he let out a very audible ‘f***ing get in!’ in both celebration and relief at getting through the routine.
Once backstage with Dianne, Max recorded several Instagram stories thanking fans for their support and apologising for turning the air blue.
‘Hey guys, thanks so much for all your comments so far, hope you enjoyed the dance,’ he began.
Max continued: ‘I know that we are down the bottom end of the leaderboard but we enjoyed it.
‘Apologies by the way if I may have let out a bad word, it was just in the moment and I do apologise for that. Hope I didn’t offend anyone and hope the dance didn’t offend anyone either.’
He had earlier tweeted: ‘Hope you enjoyed the dance guys!!!! I may have got a little bit lost in the moment and said a bad word. Apologies if that was the case! Much love!!! X.’
Strictly host Claudia Winkleman had immediately apologised after Max dropped the F-bomb during the episode, telling viewers: ‘I also just want to quickly apologise for some language earlier that involved Max.
‘I don’t know the details, I don’t know if you heard. If you did, we’re deeply sorry. Even if you didn’t hear, we’re sorry on every level.’
Max, 32, and Dianne, 31, had dazzled the audience as they danced the American Smooth but it did little to impress judges as they landed a score of just 20 points placing them second from bottom on the leaderboard.
Craig Revel Horwood delivered a scathing critique of the performance and said: ‘You lack any sense of style, actually, of flair, that this particular dance needs.
‘Your arms are extremely haphazard, your hands are like spatulas on the end of them, darling.’
However Max was uplifted with a sweet video message of support from his girlfriend Stacey Giggs, which Claudia and Tess Daly played for him.
Stacey said: ‘Hi babe, well done tonight you danced so elegantly. That suit looks amazing. We are super proud of you, we can’t wait for you to get home and we love you loads.’
Strictly Come Dancing returns tonight at 7:25pm on BBC One.
