Andrew Cole has picked his five greatest strikers in Premier League history, leaving himself off the list despite his incredible tally of 187 goals in the division.

Cole enjoyed a stellar career in the Premier League with Newcastle United and Manchester United, then latterly with the likes of Blackburn, Fulham and Manchester City.

He sits third on the all-time list of Premier League goal-scorers with 187, only behind Alan Shearer (260) and Wayne Rooney (208).

Unsurprisingly, Shearer and Rooney make Cole’s top five forwards in Premier League history, while the other three come from Arsenal, Manchester City and Manchester United icons.

The Daily Mail spoke to Cole and report that Shearer and Thierry Henry are both ‘a given’ while Cole added: ‘[Sergio] Aguero, he would definitely be in there.

‘Rooney would be in there, [Ruud] Van Nistelrooy would have a shout…’

It was put to Cole that he should be in the list himself, but the England international felt he could not include his own name.

‘You can say that,’ he said. ‘The perception everyone has of me is arrogant… if I was to put myself in the top five, everyone would be telling me how arrogant I am.

‘Everyone wants to talk about what I’ve done in my career, the goals I’ve scored, but no one wants to give me the credit for doing it. I would never put myself in that top five.’

Cole is one place ahead of Aguero on the Premier League goal-scoring list, just seven goals in front of the Argentinian.

Few would argue with Henry, but Van Nistelrooy is perhaps a harder sell, with just 95 Premier League goals to his name during his five seasons at Old Trafford.
