Shane Richie and Jessica Plummer took part in one of the most memorable trials of recent series on Wednesday, winning an impressive 12 stars for camp.
Elsewhere, Shane took issue with Beverley’s snoring, which he said sounded like an ‘RAF fighter’, and the campmates helped to celebrate Russell Watson’s birthday.
There was a spa treat in store for the celebrities too, as they successfully completed a one-off challenge.
But what exactly happened on last night’s show?
Bev’s snoring kept camp up
Shane Richie didn’t enjoy the best night’s sleep on Wednesday’s show, and it was Beverley Callard’s snoring rather than creepy crawlies that kept him up.
The actor had a tricky time getting to bed, saying: ‘Last night, I swear I thought there was an RAF fighter coming over. And I was going, ‘Bev, Bev, Bev…’
It was noticed by over celebrities too, with Victoria Derbyshire encouraging Shane to nudge Beverley to get her to stop.
Speaking later, Beverley said: ‘Apparently I was snoring, growling, which I’m so embarrassed about.’
The actress then said that her husband Jon will be laughing at home, as she always usually complains about his snoring, before making a baffling comment about him being a ‘mega s***’.
Russell celebrates a strange birthday
Victoria organised a special singalong for birthday boy Russell, gathering everyone together to help him celebrate.
Russell said: ‘There was this massive rendition of Happy Birthday for me, which was lovely. It was so nice.’
The singer said that the birthday was ‘surreal’, and admitted that it was strange not to be with his family on the day.
‘My wife, Louise, she always makes a massive fuss of me on my birthday. She understands the significance of how glad I am to still be here,’ he said, referencing the treatment he underwent for two brain tumours 15 years previously.
‘I’ve always been the giant that looks after everybody. It’s all just a bit weird,’ he said.
Giovanna Fletcher gave him a hug, saying: ‘I think there’s strength in vulnerability.’
The campmates take on a one-off challenge
The campmates received a message telling them they’d be taking part in a special challenge. All the celebrities chose sticks from a bucket, and the four which had red markings were told they’d be taking on the Mean Massage challenge.
Beverley, Giovanna, Ruthie Henshall and Jessica Plummer were selected, which meant they had to take on a critter and snake-covered massage for 12 minutes. They all endured the uncomfortable test, with Giovanna’s proving particularly uncomfortable.
When they’d all completed the challenge, the four of them had the chance to select someone to enjoy a luxury spa.
Beverley chose Vernon Kay to enjoy the spa, Giovanna chose Hollie, Jess chose Giovanna, before Ruthie chose birthday Russell.
The lucky celebrities then enjoyed delicious food and drinks, before face masks and a dip in the hot tub.
Vernon said: ‘This is heaven. Bev, you’re an absolute beauty.’
He added: ‘I feel a million dollars, I really do. I’m ready for a Saturday night out.’
Shane and Jessie take on a gag-worthy trial
Wednesday’s trial had viewers gagging, with Shane and Jessica taking on Sickening Stalls.
Ant and Dec teased it by saying it was one of the funniest trials they’d ever had on the show, and it didn’t disappoint.
The pair won 12 stars for camp by necking an assortment of gruesome cocktails, with the pair beginning with blended fermented duck eggs and blended fish eyes.
Shane and Jessica continued to drink drinks consisting of sheep’s testicles, chicken’s feet, mealworms, pig’s snout, pig’s vagina and vomit fruit.
The pair necked the drinks to win a full meal for camp, claiming all the stars on offer. They were given a hero’s welcome when they returned, with Giovanna deciding to play Reach by S Club 7.
Back in camp, the celebrities enjoyed a slow-cooked pheasant dinner, although Jessica felt a little unwell and went to bed early after the trial.
Finally, it was revealed that Shane and Hollie Arnold would be taking on Thursday’s trial.
