Hollyoaks is taking viewers back in time once more next week, as it returns to 2007 with a very special instalment, as John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) and Craig Dean (Guy Burnet) lock lips for the very first time.
Over the past couple of months, viewers have been enjoying some of the Channel 4 soap’s finest outings from years gone by.
Two special series — Hollyoaks Favourites and Hollyoaks@25 — kept us entertained with classic episodes during the Covid-19 pandemic, which saw production halt on current instalments.
With newer episodes being rationed out at three a week — before being further cut to two — the soap eventually went off our screens.
Classic episodes were transmitted in its absence, until new outings returned on September 7 — with the soap back on our screens four times a week from Monday to Thursday.
As one can never have too much Hollyoaks, the Friday slot has been occupied with classic episodes once more, and next week’s takes us back to 2007.
Yep, you guessed it: it’s a McDean classic!
This particular outing is one of the soap’s most memorable, as John Paul — trying to come to terms with his sexuality — shares a drunken first kiss with Craig, as the teens go to the school dance.
However, they’re seen by John Paul’s girlfriend, Hannah (Emma Rigby)!
Meanwhile, Calvin Valentine (Ricky Whittle) is worried for his brother, Sonny, after he was caught on CCTV doing Warren’s dirty work for him.
Max has severed all ties with Claire Devine (Gemma Bissix), while she tells Warren Fox (Jamie Lomas) that she’s the new owner of The Loft. Jacqui and Becca Dean (Ali Bastian) are in prison, but Becca has a new cellmate.
This episode — the soap’s 1967th — was initially broadcast on February 6, 2007.
One to watch: Friday November 27 at 7pm on E4.
