Rainie and Stuart Highway (Tanya Franks and Ricky Champ) received bad news in EastEnders when they discovered Rainie wasn’t pregnant, but there’s something of a new chapter on the horizon for the pair.
Rainie feared that she’d lost the baby after colliding with Keegan Butcher-Baker’s (Zack Morris) bike, but a visit to the hospital revealed that she was never pregnant in the first place.
She resolved to leave Stuart, feeling as though she’d disappointed him, but Stuart managed to make her see that this simply wasn’t the case, and that he loves her no matter what.
Therefore, Rainie agreed to stay put, and her and Start enjoyed a nice evening together.
Speaking about Rainie’s decision to stay, actor Ricky Champ said: ‘I think together they work and keep each other going. They have been successful together, they work together, they’ve got a bit of money now, and they both haven’t really fallen off the wagon in a while.
‘You kind of look forward to seeing what these two are going to be up against next, because I don’t think that there is much on the planet that could get between them.’
Viewers won’t have too long to find out what happens next for Rainie and Stuart, as new spoilers reveal that — after receiving bad news during a fertility appointment — Rainie asks Tiffany (Maisie Smith) to be their surrogate.
‘I think the initial choice of Tiffany was Rainie’s decision when she gets the idea straight away, far too quickly of course, that little Tiff is there,’ Ricky said, ‘she’s young, she’s local, she’s trustworthy, they like her, and she’s just started working as a beautician at the funeral parlour.
‘The stars align and make Tiffany an easy choice.’
‘Fingers crossed for Rainie and Stuart, I think Tiffany likes this weird couple that has shown her some kindness.’
But would Stuart and Rainie make good parents? Ricky reckons so!
‘I think where he is at the moment; [Stuart] has a lot of love to give,’ he said, ‘He is very protective, he can be very funny and very caring, and those are good qualities, he’s unpredictable nature and his damaged past could rear its ugly head again.
‘Stuart would think Rainie would be incredible, and they both give each other strength and confidence. If they are together and happy, then they will be the best parents in the world.
