Coronation Street has unveiled a special cast photo to celebrate the ITV soap reaching its 60th anniversary.
The photo had to be taken adhering to the Government’s health and safety guidelines for TV and film production.
Therefore, all of the actors in the portrait were photographed at different times.
Previous photography to celebrate the show’s big milestones has featured all the cast, starting with the famous black and white shot to launch the first episode.
With the pandemic meaning that large gatherings are simply not possible, a decision was therefore taken to represent the show by photographing the first seven of the current cast to join the soap alongside the most recent seven actors to have appeared on screen as a regular cast member.
Audrey Roberts (Sue Nicholls), Gail Rodwell (Helen Worth), Ken Barlow (William Roache), Rita Tanner (Barbara Knox), Jenny Connor (Sally Ann Matthews), Sally Metcalfe (Sally Dynevor), Todd Grimshaw (Gareth Pierce) and Kevin Webster (Michael Le Vell) are present.
Bernie Winter (Jane Hazelgrove), Aggie and Michael Bailey (Lorna Laidlaw and Ryan Russell), Aadi Alahan (Adam Hussain), Nina Lucas (Mollie Gallagher) and George Shuttleworth (Tony Maudsley) also feature.
Over a period of two weeks, the aforementioned actors were photographed individually in a Covid-secure studio and then cleverly photoshopped to give the impression of being together.
Long-time fans will also notice that Hilda Ogden’s iconic ducks from her ‘muriel’ were added to the image — including the wonky middle one!
