It looks like Geoff Metcalfe (Ian Bartholomew) could finally be facing the long awaited comeuppance that Coronation Street fans have been calling for since he started abusing Yasmeen Nazir (Shelley King).
Having been one of the show’s most manipulative and evil villains of all time, it seems fitting that his hard to watch story comes to a close as Corrie welcomes in a new era on its 60th birthday.
But Geoff isn’t going to go quietly and as he sets the Nazir household on fire and then ends up in a rooftop showdown with enemy Alya (Sair Khan), will he die as he is finally exposed as the monster that he is?
Geoff has been losing his grip on his control of the situation since his son Tim (Joe Duttine) saw him for what he is and in the wake of Yasmeen’s trial verdict, Geoff snaps and takes everything to a whole new level.
Terrified of what Geoff is capable of, Alya follows him into the house and sees that he has poured fluid everywhere and set fire to the place.
As flames grip the building, Geoff attacks Alya and it seems like there may be no escape for either of them.
With a protest raging outside and a crane crash knocking out the power, Alya and Geoff end up in a rooftop showdown.
But as Weatherfield gathers to watch the events on the Street, where a tram crashed a decade ago, more blood looks set to be spilled.
Is this finally Geoff’s last act – and will he take anyone with him?
