Billy Mayhew’s (Daniel Brocklebank) bishop receives quite the shock in Coronation Street when a drunk Paul Foreman (Peter Ash) begins cracking lewd jokes.
Viewers will know that Billy was offered an interview for the position of archdeacon several weeks back.
Initially, the vicar was excited about the prospect of becoming archdeacon, but Todd Grimshaw’s (Gareth Pierce) return resulted in him cancelling the interview.
That is, until Paul had a word with him and encouraged him to go for it — informing him not to tell Todd get the better off him.
Therefore, Billy did just that, and in the coming episodes, he reveals to Eileen (Sue Cleaver) and Nina (Mollie Gallagher) that he’s expecting the bishop round to let him know if he’s landed the position or not.
Later, the bishop stops by at Billy’s flat, and offers him the position!
However, things take quite the turn, as a drunken Paul arrives home, and proceeds to crack lewd jokes in front of the bishop, before offering him a beer.
The bishop is left in shock and cannot escape quick enough.
Has Paul scuppered Billy’s shot at becoming archdeacon?
What will Billy have to say about his beau’s behaviour?
