A baker has combined two delicious desserts to make Pavlova brownies – and she cooks the whole thing in 40 minutes using an air fryer.
The Australian woman posted her recipe on a Facebook group for fans of the Kmart three-in-one air fryer.
Kmart products aren’t available in the UK but you can easily pick up other brands of air fryer here. The appliance uses a heating element at the top, accompanied by a large, powerful fan, making food go crispy.
People love the devices as you can use less oil to make things crisp up, plus it’s easy to cook lots of different dishes.
But this recipe for a sweet treat has proved particularly popular.
To make the base, the baker uses a brownie mix by Betty Crocker but you could use your own brownie recipe if you prefer.
Once she’s mixed that together, she then gets to work on the meringue topping, adding salted caramel to the finished mix to make it even more indulgent.
After posting online, lots of people commented to say they love the idea and one woman named the dessert ‘pavlownies’.
Ingredients
- Box of pre-made brownie mix
- 3 egg whites
- 400g caster sugar
- 1tsp vinegar
- 1tsp salted caramel flavouring
Method
- Beat the egg whites until light and fluffy, then mix in sugar until stiff peaks form.
- Fold in vinegar and salted caramel flavouring, taking care not to beat vigorously as this knocks air from the mixture which prevents it from rising.
- Set Pavlova batter to one side and air fry the brownie batter – mixed per packet instructions – for 20 minutes at 170C.
- Load Pavolva on top and fry for a further 20 minutes at 160C.
- Allow to cool and then slice it up and enjoy.
