David Attenborough: A Life on Our Planet drops on Netflix today, the broadcaster’s much-anticipated film, which chronicles his own life, as well as the devastating environmental changes he’s seen in his 94 years on this planet.
He describes the film as ‘my witness statement and my vision for the future.’
‘The story of how we became to make this our greatest mistake and how, if we act now, we can yet put it right.’
Ahead of its launch, the broadcaster took some time out to chat to the royal children about what the future could hold, explaining his favourite creatures and telling them ‘spiders are wonderful things.’
But what about his own children – does he have any?
Who are David Attenborough’s children, Robert and Susan?
Sir David has a son and daughter – Robert and Susan.
And it seems the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree, as son Robert is a senior lecturer in bioanthropology for the School of Archaeology and Anthropology at the Australian National University in Canberra.
Susan is a former primary school headmistress.
Little is known about them as they have both opted a life away from the limelight – however, given the grand old age of Sir David, it’s safe to assume they’re approaching retirement age themselves.
They were reported as being in ‘their 50s’ in 2017.
Their mother, Elizabeth, whom Sir David married in 1950 died in 1997 of a brain haemorrhage.
In the past, the BBC presenter has spoken about wishing he were around more for his children when they were young.
Speaking to Louis Theroux in Radio Times he said: ‘If I do have regrets, it is that when my children were the same age as your children, I was away for three months at a time. If you have a child of six or eight and you miss three months of his or her life, it’s irreplaceable, you miss something.’
