The Wanted are reportedly in talks to reunite to celebrate the boyband’s success.
Following news Tom Parker, 32, has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour, it’s been claimed The Wanted are looking to potentially make a comeback next year.
The band – made up of Tom, Max George, Nathan Sykes, Siva Kanesawaran and Jay McGuiness – first shot to fame in 2009 and have been certified for 600,000 albums and two million singles in the UK.
They had 10 top 10 singles in the UK, with two of their tracks – All Time Low and Glad You Came – hitting number one in the chart.
Wanting to celebrate the band’s success more than a decade later, The Sun reports that Max is leading discussions for The Wanted to reunite.
A source told the paper: ‘Max has always been open about wanting to get the group back together to mark one of their anniversaries.
‘Those years for the lads were some of the best of their lives and they all love performing.’
‘For various reasons some of the lads grew apart but now it seems that next year, depending on how everything goes, they could do something to mark just how far the group has come,’ the source added.
It’s not the first time The Wanted have sparked speculation they’re getting back together, as earlier this year in April, fans were convinced the boys were making a comeback after noticing they’d revamped their official Facebook page for the first time in six years.
The latest reunion rumours come after singer Tom revealed he has been diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour.
He has stage four glioblastoma, an aggressive tumour that can spread quickly if not treated.
Tom revealed his diagnosis in a joint statement with his pregnant wife Kelsey Hardwick that read: ‘Hey guys, you know that we’ve both been quiet on social media for a few weeks and it’s time to tell you why.
‘There’s no easy way to say this but I’ve sadly been diagnosed with a Brain Tumour and I’m already undergoing treatment. We decided, after a lot of thought, that rather than hiding away and trying to keep it a secret, we would do one interview where we could lay out all the details and let everyone know the facts in our own way.’
It continued: ‘We are all absolutely devastated but we are gonna fight this all the way. We don’t want your sadness, we just want love and positivity and together we will raise awareness of this terrible disease and look for all available treatment options.
‘It’s gonna be a tough battle but with everyone’s love and support we are going to beat this. Tom and Kelsey xxx.’
Tom had first gone to doctors in July, after collapsing and having a seizure. He was place on the waiting list for an MRI scan, but was rushed to hospital six weeks later after a further seizure – it was then the tumour was detected.
He has since been inundated with well-wishes from fans and messages of support from his former bandmates.
Max wrote: ‘First of all.. I think the bravery of Tom and Kelsey announcing their situation is incredible. It’s obviously a devastating and scary time… but for those who don’t know Tom I will say this. There is nothing that he has ever given up on and has never taken no for an answer. His heart is the size of a lions, and it is his drive and passion that has always led The Wanted and made sure we are looked after the right way.
‘Speaking as a brother, a friend and a band mate.. I know that you will conquer this as you have every other challenge you have ever faced. We are all on this journey together… and I can’t wait to get back on the stage with you and the boys and have a proper celebration when you’re better. You got this my man. I love you, Kels and all the family with all my heart and I’ll be right here.❤️’
‘You’ve always been one in a million. I love you Tom. Let’s get popping,’ Jay told him.
