Netflix’s The Haunting Of Hill House thoroughly spooked out viewers when it was released last year – so it’s no surprise to learn that it’s landed itself a sequel (of sorts).

The Haunting Of Bly Manor comes to us from the same team that gave us Hill House, except this one turns to classic literature for its inspiration, namely Henry James’ The Turn Of The Screw.

It’s arriving just a few weeks before Halloween, so the timing couldn’t be more appropriate, being released today.

But just what time can you expect it, who’s in the cast – and is Bly Manor based on a real place?

What time is The Haunting Of Bly Manor released on Netflix?

The Haunting Of Bly Manor should be hitting Netflix at around 8am on Friday morning.

That’s in keeping with the time at Netflix HQ in San Francisco, where it’ll be midnight at the time the series drops here.

There are nine episodes in total – and the series is being released in its entirety, so that’s your weekend binge-viewing well and truly sorted.

Who is in the cast of The Haunting Of Bly Manor?

The new series sees many cast members from The Haunting Of Hill House making a return.

Henry Thomas – who originally sprang to fame as the young star of E.T – returns to the franchise, this time in the role of Henry Wingrave, who hires a nanny to care for his orphaned niece and nephew at the titular Bly Manor.

He’s joined by Hill House’s Victoria Pedretti as Dani Clayton.

The actress played Nell Crain in Hill House, and you might also recognise her from her role as Love Quinn in the Netflix series You.

Meanwhile young actors Benjamin Evan Ainsworth and Amelie Bea Smith play youngsters Miles and Flora.

Benjamin’s previous credits include the movie Flora and Ulysses and a brief appearance in Emmerdale, while Amelie may well be familiar as the current voice of Peppa Pig – and she’s also appeared in EastEnders, playing a character called Daisy back in 2018.

Is Bly Manor a real place?

While The Haunting Of Bly Manor may be a thoroughly creepy watch, you may well be relieved to know that it’s not based on a true story, and Bly Manor isn’t real.

However The Turn Of The Screw, which was originally published in 1898, is a pretty spooky read, telling the tale of a young governess who is assigned to the care of orphans Miles and Flora by their uncle at a big creepy house – and becomes convinced it is haunted after strange unexplained things start happening.

We don’t want to give too much away if you’re planning on watching the series – but let’s just say the book is pretty terrifying.

It’s not the first time the novella has been adapted – with movie version The Innocents released in 1961, and a 2020 adaptation, The Turning, released earlier this year.
