Suits star Patrick J. Adams is too intimidated to get in touch with his former co-star Meghan Markle because, well, she’s Meghan Markle.
The pair starred alongside each other as love interests Mike Ross and Rachel Zane and Patrick was among the guests at Meghan’s wedding to Prince Harry in 2018.
But just two years later, the 39-year-old is a ‘little scared’ to reach out to the Duchess of Sussex.
The actor – who is currently starring as real-life astronaut John Glenn in The Right Stuff – has barely been in touch with Meghan, 39, since she tied the knot.
‘We’ve spoken and texted a couple of times, but Meghan’s life is incredibly full and she’s been navigating a lot,’ Patrick told Radio Times.
‘We don’t spend any time together, but that’s not because of anything other than how completely enormous her life has become in so many ways. But I have no doubt she’s up to the task and that she and Prince Harry are up to the task together.
‘Meghan is an incredibly strong and powerful woman. It seems to me like she’s handling herself very, very well.’
Patrick admitted he’s ‘intimidated’ to contact the royal these days.
‘I have no doubt I could pick up the phone and call her at any moment, but I don’t know what I would say,’ he continued. ‘After our children were born, there were some texts sent and gifts sent, but I guess I’m a little scared.
‘I think it’s pure fear. I guess I’m scared about the idea of breaking through whatever walls exist to have that conversation.’
Patrick and Meghan both departed Suits together as Mike and Rachel moved to Seattle to set up a new law clinic.
However, he made a brief return for the drama’s final season in 2019. Meghan, unsurprisingly, did not.
Suits is available to stream on Netflix. Read Patrick’s full interview in this week’s Radio Times.
