Fans will have to wait a little while to see Robert Pattinson’s debut in The Batman as the comic book movie has been delayed until 2022.

Warner Bros. have reportedly made the significant delay with a big shake-up of their release schedule, which sees the Matt Reeves-directed movie on the Caped Crusader moved from its former October 1 2021 slot.

According to Variety, it’s now set for release on March 4 2022.

Instead, Denis Villeneuve’s anticipated sci-fi blockbuster Dune will fill The Batman’s original 2021 release date.

In another shake-up, Matrix 4 – which will see Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss reprise their roles – has been brought forward from December 22 2021 to April 1 2021, which fans of the franchise will no doubt appreciate.

So silver linings…

Elsewhere, Shazam 2 has been pushed all the way back to June 2023 while The Flash has been delayed five months until December 2022.

However in seriously disappointing news, superhero flick Black Adam and the adaptation of video game Minecraft have reportedly been removed from the schedule entirely.

Of course, it’s all down to the coronavirus pandemic which abruptly halted filming of The Batman in March, leaving its star-studded cast stranded in the UK due to travel restrictions.

It resumed filming over the summer and debuted its trailer shortly after giving fans their first glimpse of Robert in his shiny new Batsuit.

The project was thrown into further chaos in September when Robert, 34, tested positive for Covid-19, forcing the shoot to close down for two weeks before resuming.

No doubt R-Patz is feeling the pressure of filling Batman’s famous cape but he surprisingly recently admitted that he savours the feeling of being responsible if something goes wrong.

He told Total Film magazine: ‘I think this interpretation is incredible. There’s a slightly different feeling when you know loads and loads of people are going to watch something you’re working on.

‘I weirdly enjoyed it during Twilight the idea that you can mess it up. I guess I felt confident. I wanted to be on the big stage.’
