Two racoons have broken into a bank in Redwood City, California. The two furry thieves didn’t take cash, but almond biscuits. They were spotted red-pawed by a customer using the cashpoint at Peninsula Bank, early one morning. “They were in the break room eating a tin of almond cookies,” said an American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals spokesperson.
Man breaks bees-on-body world record
A man has achieved a Guinness World Record after his body was covered in more than 100 pounds of living bees. Ruan Liangming had several buckets filled with bees dumped over his head in Yichun City, Jiangxi Province, to get the insects to settle on his body. In total, Liangming’s compliment of bees weighed 140 pounds, 6.95 ounces.
Metal detectorist finds ancient penny
A man on a metal detecting trip near a Maine church has unearthed a copper penny dating from the year 1798. Shane Houston was delighted to find the 222-year-old copper penny, released in the first decade money was minted by the United States. Similar coins have attracted bids for up to $200 (£153) on eBay, but Houston is planning to keep it for his own collection.
