Goldfinger actress Margaret Nolan has died aged 76, it has been confirmed.
The former Bond Girl died on October 5, with her son Oscar Deeks confirming the sad news.
Filmmaker Edgar Wright had also addressed Nolan’s death, who he had recently worked with, while remembering her on Twitter.
He wrote in a series of tweets: ‘It’s my sad duty to report that actress and artist, the magnificent Margaret Nolan has passed away.
‘I worked with her last year as she plays a small role in Last Night In Soho. She was so funny, sharp and, as you might imagine, full of the most amazing stories. I’m so glad I got to know her.
‘My heart goes out to her family and all that loved her. She will be much missed.’
The English director had cast actress and former glamour model Nolan in his upcoming movie Last Night In Soho, set for release next year in 2021.
Her cause of death is not yet known.
Nolan was famed for starring alongside Sean Connery’s James Bond in 1964 movie Goldfinger, in which she played Dink, and fans will know her as the iconic gold-painted model who is seen dancing in the movie’s end credits.
Her appearance in the film led to her posing for Playboy magazine and giving her first interview on appearing as the Goldfinger model years later in 2012.
She said: ‘It does celebrate the physical form. If I’d been nude it might have been about liberation because up to that point you wouldn’t have seen a nude woman in a publicly visible thing like that.
‘I could have been very pretentious and said this is liberating, but because i was dressed-up anyway, I didn’t get that sense.’
The same year she appeared in A Hard Day’s Night – a musical comedy starring the Beatles – before going on to star in the Carry On films during the 1970s.
Nolan first began her career as a model and was briefly known as Vicky Kennedy while she made her modelling debut in the ’60s, before reverting back to her birth name as she turned her attention to acting.
Other film credits of hers include The Great St Trinian’s Train Robbery in 1966, Bikini Paradise, No Sex Please, We’re British and 2011 film The Power of Three.
Nolan’s last TV credit saw her appear as herself in ITV3 show Carry On Forever that aired in 2015.
She married Tom Kempinski, an English playwright, in 1967. They had two sons and divorced five years later in 1972.
Nolan is survived by her sons Oscar Deeks and Luke O’Sullivan.
