Tiffany Haddish told Ellen DeGeneres that she supports her ‘110%’ as she became The Ellen Show’s first guest since the programme’s scandal.
The NBC series returned tonight, with Ellen addressing the show’s alleged ‘toxic workplace environment’ in her opening monologue.
Shortly after, Girls Trip actress Tiffany was welcomed onto the stage where she declared she is behind the presenter all the way.
Her feelings were made known after Ellen revealed it ‘meant the world’ that the star had accepted the invitation to appear on the show.
‘Well thanks for having me,’ Tiffany replied. ‘It means so much to me that you invited me.
‘I mean, you the best. You know, I love you and I support you 110%.’
Tiffany continued: ‘Let me just tell you, I was listening to your speech out here earlier and you was talking about you was the Be Kind lady.
‘I don’t like that people were accusing you of all these things or whatever, and you can’t always know what’s going on at the workplace and whatnot, but what you need to do is what I do because people say I’m kind too, but I’m kind of crazy.
‘So you need to be kind of crazy.’
Tiffany then demonstrated what she meant by ‘kind of crazy’ and proceeded to lick a mug of water that Ellen had asked to take a sip from.
‘But I was being kind,’ Tiffany said, before Ellen laughed: ‘Kind of crazy.’
Before Tiffany arrived on the programme, Ellen told audiences she was sorry to all those affected by the behind-the-scenes drama.
‘I know that I’m in a position of privilege and power, and I realise that with that comes responsibility,’ she said. ‘I take responsibility for what happens at my show.
‘We have had a lot of conversations over the last few weeks about the show, our workplace and what we want for the future, we have made the necessary changes and today we are starting a new chapter.’
The Ellen Show airs on NBC in the US.
