Succession star Nicholas Braun graciously handled hearing two reporters saying he wasn’t going to win at the 2020 Emmys.
The actor was in the running for his role as outstanding supporting actor in a drama series along with co-stars Matthew Macfadyen and Kieran Culkin.
He appeared on ABC for a chat before the event, and was watching from home with his parents and his brother.
After some sound troubles, the pre-coverage show played a clip of two commentators discussing how Kieran Culkin going to triumph in the category.
When the interview managed to cut back to Nicholas he was asked: ‘You’re going up against some of your costars, have some of you talked about this?’
The star said: ‘It’s good to hear those bets right before we started talking, good to hear two votes for Kieran but you know what my vote’s with Matthew.
‘Who knows? I hope one of us wins. I hope it’s a three way tie.’
His mum, clearly his biggest fan, added in: ‘Nick you’re all winners.’
Succession was one of the big winners at the Emmys, which took place virtually with nominees appearing remotely from their homes.
It took home best drama series and best actor for star Jeremy Strong.
Showrunner Jesse Armstrong, appearing from London, said: ‘This is such a very nice moment, but it’s sad not to be with the cast and crew.’
Watchmen also had a great night with stars Regina King and Yahya Abdul-Mateen II picking up trophies with the show winning best limited series.
And Euphoria star Zendaya became the youngest best drama actress winner aged 24.
