Chantelle Atkins (Jessica Plummer) sets in motion her escape plan in EastEnders, but suspicious Gray (Toby-Alexander Smith) meddles — making things incredibly difficult for her.
Gray’s abuse has become much worse since lockdown hit, and therefore Chantelle has decided that enough is enough.
She attempted to set in motion a divorce upon the BBC One soap’s return (September 7), but after the abuser put her life at risk once more, she resolved to leave Walford once and for all.
Her attempts at escaping have thus far been foiled by Gray, but Mitch Baker (Roger Griffiths) suggested a little impromptu holiday, which has allowed her a window of opportunity to get away.
In tonight’s episode (September 14), Chantelle packs as much as she can, but the Taylor clan arrive at the door of No.1 in their holiday attire — leaving Gray shocked.
Chantelle successfully convinces her abusive husband that this holiday is nothing more than a little trip away with her family, and — later — she informs Kheerat Panesar (Jaz Deol) that she’s never planning on returning.
However, in spite of Chantelle being hopeful that her escape is imminent, Gray’s suspicions continue to grow, and when she arrives home, she’s left in shock.
Yes, Gray reveals that he’s managed to sweet-talk Karen (Lorraine Stanley) and Mitch into allowing Mia and Mackenzie to remain in Walford.
Chantelle can’t escape without her kids, so what will she do?
EastEnders continues Monday September 14 at 8:05pm on BBC One.
